Violet.. Purple

I love Violet,, maybe more than most women do, I don’t care if they think it’s a symbol for sadness or depression,, it’s a lovely color & even all it’s tones & if it’s in furniture it’s unusual & I think it’s a hit.

About Purple

Purple combines the stability of blue and the energy of red. Purple is associated with royalty. It symbolizes power, nobility, luxury, and ambition. It conveys wealth and extravagance. Purple is associated with wisdom, dignity, independence, creativity, mystery, and magic.

According to surveys, almost 75 percent of pre-adolescent children prefer purple to all other colors. Purple is a very rare color in nature; some people consider it to be artificial.

Light purple is a good choice for a feminine design. You can use bright purple when promoting children’s products.

Light purple evokes romantic and nostalgic feelings.
Dark purple evokes gloom and sad feelings. It can cause frustration.

More colors
The Egyptian queen Cleopatra loved purple. To obtain one ounce of Tyrian purple dye, she had her servants soak 20,000 Purpura snails for 10 days.

In Thailand, purple is worn by a widow mourning her husband’s death.

A “purple heart” is a U.S. military decoration for soldiers wounded or killed in battle.

Purple is a royal color.

Purple robes are an emblem of authority and rank.

Purple speech” is profane talk.

Purple prose” is writing that is full of exaggerated literary effects and ornamentation.

Leonardo da Vinci believed that the power of meditation increases 10 times when done in a purple light, as in the purple light of stained glass.

Purple in a child’s room is said to help develop the imagination according to color theory.

Richard Wagner composed his operas in a room with shades of violet, his color of inspiration.

In traditional homes like ours we can’t really use it that much, so all that i can do is to collect pics that I like.

  2. I love violet and purple too. We actually have an eggplant colored leather chair in our living room which ties into the deep purple paint on the dining room wall (kind of the color of the bedspread in your pictures). We also have a purplish/eggplantish colored sofa in the family room. It all seemed daring at the time but it’s a really nice color to have around!

    Also, my kids (especially my five year old) LOVE the color purple!
